AEGIS: Artifacts & Ephemera of Gothic & Industrial Subculture

The Aegis Archive collects, preserves, catalogues, and studies artifacts of gothic and industrial subcultures. This means zines, music, video, digital files, oral histories, sartorial items, and physical objects. Usually rare and ephemeral by nature, such historical items are otherwise in danger of oblivion.

Our holdings include over 1600 rare zines from the 1980s and 1990s goth and industrial scenes. We're always adding to the collection and we happily accept donations. The archive is young still, but its digitization has begun and is ongoing. Our mission will be to provide access (public, individual, institutional) to its artifacts for the purposes of scholarship, public education, awareness, outreach, and community enrichment.

Board members are S. Alexander Reed, Ph.D. (Ithaca College), Meredith Collins, Ph.D. (Cornell University), and Christy Bailey-Tomecek, MLS (Yale University). We are located in Ithaca, New York.
